Make sure you are eligible to vote. Deadlines for registration are different for each state and can be weeks or even months ahead of election day.  Plan ahead and be sure you can vote in November.

Even if you are sure you have registered to vote, you should check your registration in the run-up to the election. In many states, voter rolls are regularly purged and you would have to re-register. It shouldn't be this hard but it is. Make sure you are eligible to vote and check back often.
